I'm Nick from Richmond Hill. I live here with my family – my parents and my little brother Dara. I'm a student at the Laureates Academy, and I'm really into all sorts of things – math (I've been lucky enough to win some national competitions in grades 8, 9, and 10 and even made it to the Canadian Math Olympiad!), science, computer science (especially coding and game design!), and even stuff like swimming, taekwondo, basketball, music, chess, board games and art. Basically, I love learning and exploring new ideas!
I'm super excited to kick off a Math & Science Circle at the Richmond Hill Library starting in February 2025! So, I thought it would be awesome to start a group where we can all get together and dive into math and science. Whether you're struggling with your homework, want to learn more about a specific topic, or just want to chat about cool science facts or the latest tech, come hang out! We can tackle anything from algebra and physics to coding and biology. And hey, if we have time, we can totally geek out about video games, sports, or even music and art – because everything's connected, right?
The idea is to create a fun, chill space where we can all learn from each other. If you're already a math or science pro, even better! Come share your knowledge and help others out – teaching is a great way to solidify your own understanding. And if you're just starting out, no worries at all! I'm here to help you every step of the way.
I am hoping I can also motivate other students who are doing good in their academics to join this circle as volunteer instructors. If you are interested, please write to me at nick.kamali@Laureates.ca so that we can discuss how this is to be done.
We'll be meeting at the Richmond Hill Central Library on Saturdays, starting in February 2025. I'll post more details about the exact times soon, so keep an eye out for updates. In the meantime, tell your friends, spread the word, and get ready to explore the awesome world of STEM (and beyond!) with me! It's gonna be epic!
Erfan is a grade 12 student in my school. He recently got his admission to the Computer Science Program in University of Toronto. Erfan is also among the 150 top students across Canada who have been invited to the next stage of the Canadian Math Olympiad. He is an amazing person and a great teacher.
Luke is my wonderful grade 9 friend at school. He has been Canadian Champion on several grade 8 and 9 contest. He is fond of robotic and coding, and yes he is a great gamer too. :)
Kate is simply one of the best friend I have ever had. She is super smart, extremely kind, and absolutely caring. She is doing her grade 7 at our school and has received honorable mentions in grade 8 and grade 10 contests in the past. Beside her fantastic math skills, she is a professional fencer and a skilled cello player.
If you feel you are ready for helping other kids with their academics, please feel free to contact me on my email: nick.kamali@Laureates.ca to arrange a meeting and chat a bit.
